Hasan Nawaz Smashes Fastest T20I Ton for Pakistan: In a breathtaking display of power-hitting and clinical bowling, Pakistan secured a commanding nine-wicket victory over New Zealand in the third T20I at Eden Park, Auckland, on Friday night. The match will be remembered for Hasan Nawaz’s record-breaking maiden T20I century, which propelled Pakistan to chase down a daunting 205-run target with ease, finishing the game with 24 balls to spare.

A Record-Breaking Innings by Hasan Nawaz

Hasan Nawaz, the young opening batter, delivered a performance for the ages, smashing an unbeaten 105 off just 45 balls. His innings, laced with 10 fours and seven sixes, not only marked his first T20I century but also set a new benchmark for the fastest T20I century by a Pakistani batter. Hasan surpassed Babar Azam’s previous record of 49 balls, reaching the milestone in just 44 deliveries. This remarkable feat came after a shaky start to the series, where he had registered two ducks in his first two matches.

Hasan’s explosive batting was complemented by a solid partnership with skipper Salman Ali Agha, who also notched his maiden T20I half-century. The duo put together an unbroken 133-run stand for the second wicket, which is now the third-highest partnership for Pakistan in T20Is. Salman remained unbeaten on 51 off 31 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes, as Pakistan cruised to victory.

A Fiery Start to the Chase

Pakistan’s chase began with a blistering opening partnership between Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Haris. The pair added 74 runs in just 5.5 overs, setting the tone for the innings. Haris, though dismissed for a quickfire 41 off 20 balls, played a crucial role in providing the early momentum. His innings included four boundaries and three sixes, ensuring Pakistan stayed ahead of the required run rate from the outset.

After Haris’ dismissal, Hasan and Salman took charge, dismantling New Zealand’s bowling attack with ease. The hosts struggled to contain the duo, as boundaries flowed freely and the required run rate continued to drop. Hasan’s ability to find gaps and clear the ropes at will left the New Zealand bowlers with no answers.

New Zealand’s Competitive Total

Earlier in the match, New Zealand posted a challenging total of 204 all out in 19.5 overs, thanks largely to a sensational knock from Mark Chapman. The left-handed batter smashed 94 off just 44 balls, hitting 11 fours and four sixes. His aggressive innings provided the backbone of New Zealand’s innings, as he single-handedly lifted the team after a shaky start.

Michael Bracewell also contributed with a quick 31 off 18 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to capitalize on the platform set by Chapman. For Pakistan, the bowling attack shared the spoils, with Haris Rauf leading the way with three wickets. Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Abrar Ahmed chipped in with two wickets each, ensuring New Zealand were bowled out before completing their allotted 20 overs.

A Statement Win for Pakistan

This victory was not only Pakistan’s second-highest successful chase in T20Is but also a statement of intent from the team. Hasan Nawaz’s heroics with the bat, combined with a disciplined bowling performance, showcased Pakistan’s depth and potential in the shortest format of the game. The win will undoubtedly boost the team’s confidence as they look to build momentum in the series.

For New Zealand, the loss will be a tough pill to swallow, especially after posting a competitive total. The bowlers lacked penetration, and the fielding standards dipped under pressure, allowing Pakistan to dominate the chase.

As the series progresses, both teams will look to fine-tune their strategies, but for now, the spotlight remains firmly on Hasan Nawaz, whose record-breaking century has etched his name in Pakistan’s cricketing history.

This thrilling encounter at Eden Park will be remembered as a night when Hasan Nawaz announced himself on the international stage, and Pakistan showcased their ability to chase down big targets with flair and precision.
