PCB Renames National Stadium Enclosures After Legends: In a move to honor the contributions of cricketing legends, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the renaming of several enclosures at Karachi’s National Stadium. Two of these enclosures will now bear the names of celebrated former captains Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan, recognizing their exceptional service to Pakistan cricket.
The current Quaid Enclosure will be renamed as the Shahid Afridi Enclosure, commemorating Afridi’s explosive batting, match-winning performances, and charismatic leadership. Known fondly as “Boom Boom Afridi,” his contributions to Pakistan cricket have left an indelible mark on the sport.
Similarly, the Majid Khan Enclosure will be renamed to honor Younis Khan, Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in Test cricket and one of the most reliable middle-order batsmen in the country’s history. Younis’s contributions to Pakistan’s cricketing glory include leading the national team to its first-ever ICC T20 World Cup victory in 2009.
In another adjustment, the Zaheer Abbas Enclosure will now be called the Nazar Mohammad Enclosure. This change recognizes the contributions of Nazar Mohammad, the first Pakistani batsman to score a Test century.

Beyond these changes, the PCB is also planning to revamp other parts of the stadium. The Hanif Mohammad and Fazal Mahmood enclosures are expected to undergo adjustments to enhance the stadium’s overall experience. Moreover, the newly reconstructed building within the stadium will feature two new VIP enclosures, providing an upgraded viewing experience for spectators.
Each of the renamed enclosures has a seating capacity of 1,050, and these changes reflect the PCB’s commitment to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Pakistan cricket. By naming enclosures after cricketing icons, the PCB aims to inspire future generations and ensure that the contributions of these legends are remembered for years to come.
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the PCB to modernize cricket facilities and honor the legacy of players who have shaped the sport in Pakistan. The National Stadium, a historic venue that has hosted numerous memorable cricketing moments, continues to evolve as a symbol of pride for Pakistan’s cricketing community.
