5 Teams With Most IPL Super Over Victories: The Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen some of the most thrilling finishes in cricket history, with Super Overs often deciding the fate of closely contested matches. Since the tournament’s inception, 15 Super Overs have taken place, showcasing nerve-wracking moments, tactical brilliance, and individual heroics.

Among all IPL teams, Delhi Capitals lead the pack with the most Super Over victories, proving their ability to handle pressure in crunch situations. Let’s take a closer look at the teams with the most Super Over wins in IPL history.

5. Mumbai Indians – 2 Wins

Mumbai Indians (MI), one of the most successful IPL franchises, have won two Super Overs, both in dramatic fashion.

  • 2017 vs Gujarat Lions: Krunal Pandya played a crucial role, scoring 45 runs and taking 2/14 in the match. Mumbai defended 12 runs in the Super Over to clinch a thrilling win.
  • 2019 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: Jasprit Bumrah’s exceptional bowling (3/25) restricted SRH to 162, forcing a tie. In the Super Over, Bumrah conceded just 8 runs, allowing Hardik Pandya to finish the game with a six off Rashid Khan.

MI’s ability to perform under pressure, especially in knockout-like scenarios, has been key to their Super Over success.

4. Rajasthan Royals – 2 Wins

Rajasthan Royals (RR) were part of the first-ever IPL Super Over in 2009 and have since added another victory to their tally.

  • 2009 vs Kolkata Knight Riders: Yusuf Pathan starred with an unbeaten 42 and took 2/18, helping RR defend 15 runs in the Super Over.
  • 2014 vs KKR (Abu Dhabi): James Faulkner’s 3/11 restricted KKR to 152, and Steve Smith held his nerve in the Super Over, scoring the winning runs off the last ball.

RR’s ability to adapt to high-pressure situations, especially with all-round contributions, has been crucial in their Super Over wins.

3. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 2 Wins

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have relied on their star players to pull off Super Over victories.

  • 2013 vs Delhi Daredevils: Virat Kohli (65) and AB de Villiers (39) helped tie the game at 152. In the Super Over, de Villiers smashed two sixes off Umesh Yadav to secure the win.
  • 2020 vs Mumbai Indians: AB de Villiers once again stepped up, scoring an unbeaten 55 and hitting the winning boundary in the Super Over.

RCB’s Super Over wins have often been powered by their big-match players, proving their ability to deliver in tense moments.

2. Punjab Kings – 3 Wins

Punjab Kings (PBKS) hold the record for being part of the only double Super Over in IPL history.

  • 2020 vs Mumbai Indians: KL Rahul’s 77* set up a tie, and Chris Gayle’s boundary in the second Super Over sealed a historic win.
  • 2010 vs Chennai Super Kings: Rusty Theron’s 3/17 helped PBKS defend a low total before winning the Super Over.
  • 2015 vs Rajasthan Royals: Shaun Marsh’s unbeaten 65 led Punjab to a tie, and they eventually triumphed in the Super Over.

PBKS’ aggressive approach and ability to handle chaotic finishes make them one of the best in Super Over scenarios.

1. Delhi Capitals – 4 Wins (Most in IPL)

Delhi Capitals (DC) have mastered the art of winning Super Overs, with four victories, the most by any team.

  • 2025 vs Rajasthan Royals: Mitchell Starc defended 9 runs in the Super Over after the match ended in a tie at 188, earning Man of the Match honors.
  • 2020 vs Punjab Kings: Marcus Stoinis (53* and 3/26) played a match-winning role, guiding DC to victory.
  • 2021 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: Prithvi Shaw’s explosive 56* set up a tie before DC won in the Super Over.
  • 2019 vs Kolkata Knight Riders: Shaw’s 99 and Kagiso Rabada’s superb Super Over bowling secured a dramatic win.

DC’s mix of experienced players and young talent has made them the most successful team in Super Overs, demonstrating their composure in high-stakes situations.

Super Overs test a team’s nerves, strategy, and ability to perform under extreme pressure. While Delhi Capitals lead with four wins, teams like Punjab Kings, RCB, Rajasthan Royals, and Mumbai Indians have also showcased their ability to thrive in these thrilling tiebreakers.

As the IPL continues to produce unforgettable moments, Super Overs remain one of the most exciting aspects of the tournament, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Which team will add to their Super Over tally next? Only time will tell!
